It depends on what sort of scene, I.e what you are going to focus on during, that you are wanting to start. I know that for me and my kitten, a common way that we start a scene is by using her collar as a symbol of beginning. For instance, if she is cooking, I’ll bring out the collar and lead from our room and place it on the table next to her. If she puts it on, then we begin, if not, she’s likely still sore from the night previous; but generally only refuses when very ill or busy, and I am usually able to interpret this. If you are going to take this approach, then it doesn’t even have to be the collar; if you have an item that has significant use in your scenes, a gag, flogger, cuffs, you can use them as well.
If you are wishing to start something a little more intense, It’s pretty much the same procedure as the previous suggestion. If you know that your submissive (you generally I assume) is in the mood, grab them violently, around the throat, arm, wherever, and drag them to your room.
Starting a scene is generally about reading the other person. As the submissive, you should avoid trying to start one yourself, as some Dominants are known to take this the wrong way (Unless of course you are switching for that particular scene); but you can make it abundantly clear to your Dominant that you want to begin a scene.
